A BMW KEY recharges the remote battery for as long as the key is in the ignition.... however everything has an ending and so does that battery in your key.
About 99% of the time when your BMW key remote stops working then it's the battery that is the culprit.
If you go to the agents then they either tell you that "THERE IS NOT BATTERY" or THE BATTERY IS NOT REPLACEABLE.
They will then offer you to purchase a complete new key at the cost of over R2500.
